Yael Brotman’s artwork examines themes that consider humans’ capacity for building, juxtaposed with implications of imbalance. She has developed a hybrid practice of printmaking, drawing, sculpture and installation, exploring aspects of construction. Brotman has exhibited widely with solo exhibitions across Canada and numerous international group exhibitions including in Berlin, Spain, New York, Taiwan and Australia.

Brotman has been awarded grants by the Canada, Ontario and Toronto Arts Councils. Her residencies include in China, Ireland and Haida Gwaii. She is an advocate for artists’ rights and sat on the boards of CARFAC Ontario and CARFAC National. Brotman has been inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
